A Pragmatic Approach to Improving Your Testing Process
Many
test managers know they need to improve their processes, but don’t know how to
go about it. How do you understand the effectiveness of your current test
process, and then how do you decide how you can move forward for quick wins, and
long-term gains?
Clive Bates shows you step-by-step how to gather the staff’s views on the
existing process through special questionnaires and frank interviews, how to
compare your organisation with others through recognised benchmarking
procedures, and how to focus on identifying the quick wins for short term
improvements. Clive then discusses how to identify the longer term objectives.
The next step is to package these improvement activities and gain management
commitment for ongoing actions. Once changes start to happen, you’ll need to
monitor the testing to determine what impact the actions are having and make
sure you’re properly guiding the process.
You can then decide which ideas and approaches may best be suited for your
organisation, allowing you to introduce improvement ideas with confidence.
Clive Bates is presenting at the EuroSTAR conference in Copenhagen, Denmark from
29th to 2nd December 2010.
