Configuration Management (CM)

The purpose of Configuration Management is to establish and maintain the integrity of work products using configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.

The CMMI Configuration Management process can implement TMMi generic practice GP2.6 Manage Configuration in full for all project-related process areas as well as some of the organisational process

Measurement and Analysis (MA)

The purpose of Measurement and Analysis is to develop and sustain a measurement capability that is used to support management information needs.

The CMMI Measurement and Analysis process area provides support for the implementation of the Specific Goal 3 – Establish Test Performance Indicators of the TMMi Process Area Test Policy and Strategy.

This CMMI process area also provides support for the implementation of the TMMi process area Test Measurement. The measurement infrastructure and practices can be used for test measurement. It may be practical to implement the test measurement program as a supplement to the general measurement program.

For all processes, CMMi Measurement and Analysis provides general guidance on measuring, analysing and recording information that can be used to establish measures for monitoring performance, thus supporting the implementation of TMMi Generic Practice 3.2 – Collect Improvement Information for all TMMi Process Areas.

Project Monitoring and Control (PMC)

The purpose of CMMI Project Monitoring and Control is to provide an understanding of the progress of a project so that corrective actions can be taken when performance deviates significantly from the plan.

This CMMI process area provides support for the implementation of the TMMi Process Area Test Monitoring and Control.

Project management practices can be re-used for test management.

Project Planning (PP)

The purpose of CMMI Project Planning is to establish and maintain plans that define project activities.

The CMMI Project Planning process area provides support for the implementation of the TMMi Process Areas Test Planning and Test Lifecycle and Integration (Specific Goal 3 – Establish a Master Test Plan).

Project management practices can be re-used for test management.

Process and Product Quality Assurance (PPQA)

The purpose of CMMI Process and Product Quality Assurance is to provide staff and management with objective insights into processes and their associated work products.

This CMMI process area can implement the TMMI Generic Practice 2.9 – Objectively Evaluate Adherence in full for all TMMi Process Areas.

Requirements Management (REQM)

The purpose of CMMI Requirements Management is to manage the requirements of the project’s products and product components and to identity inconsistencies between them and the project’s plans and work products.

The implementation of the CMMI Requirement Management process area is a constraint for managing derived work products, such as a product risk analysis and test designs, and keeping them up-to-date and consistent.

The practices regarding maintaining traceability could be re-used in the TMMI Process Area Test Design and Execution.
